My desire is to combine the skills of my passion for visual design with my emerging infatuation for cultural design and human development—all in an environment that places equal weight on people, planet and profit.

Questions for prospective employers:
Mac or PC?
What sustainable initiatives is the company taking?
Is the organizational hierarchy clear and is it shaped more like a pyramid or Russian nesting dolls?
How much overtime is required/unwritten-but-expected? |

I am:
Great at thinking of new ways of doing things
Confident
Passionate about becoming a better version of myself,
and creating an environment where other people can do the same
Can come across as overbearing when I focus on a destination
Able to quickly assess a situation and take action
I am open to instruction although I am usually more comfortable
taking initiative and doing things my own way
I enjoy seeing a task through to completion, preferably before deadline |

I believe that my greatest strengths are also my greatest weaknesses—like two sides of the same coin. The trick is to find the sweet spot. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, our family had a small sailboat, which my Dad and I learned how to sail. The boat's relationship to the wind was key to the performance of the craft. Steer the boat too far into the wind, and she slows down and eventually stops, too far away from the wind and she tips over. To achieve maximum speed and efficiency, while staying dry, one must sail as perpendicularly to the wind as possible without capsizing. I have learned that I have exceedingly high standards for myself and others, which must be kept in perspective. I am as determined as the proverbial bull who sees red, and sometimes feel like the bull in the china shop. I love to learn, and I value the lessons of "mistakes." While this does occasionally get messy, I believe it is the straightest path to innovation and creativity, which I value above most other strengths. The big picture is usually more important and interesting to me than the details. But when I have a worthy end in my sights, I can be comprehensively detailed. |

If I had a magic wand and could do anything for a living, without regard to compensation, I would start my own company. It doesn't really matter what the company does because my interests are varied. The main function of the company would be about creating a place for people to become better versions of themselves. The combination of people, and their positions on the bus, would determine where the bus goes—rather than forcing people into impossible, yogic positions that leave their strengths untapped and their spirits broken. I would also like to write at least one novel, and I'm considering that for my third career. |
